1692 - Old Amish Order
They used to be religious fanatics and a distinctive christian subculture dating back to the year 1692 who traditionally idiolized concepts such as humility and pacifism and neglected traits like pride, arrogance and haughtiness.
Their core beliefs originate from several verses found in the bible such as "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. " and that explicitly the creation or use of labor-saving technologies like telephones and automobiles is a sin, specifically the use of electricity.
Before the Resonance Cascade there were an estimated two-hundred thousand members alone living in the United States making the Amish the fourth biggest Monotheistic religion in the world.
2025 - The Order of the Modern Amish Anti Individualist Movement
An extremist group derived from the Old Amish Order are comprised of several dozen members in its ranks who have publicly denounced the revival of the Black Mesa Corporation due to their scientific breakthroughs in technology including but not limited to rocketry, lasers, experimental propulsion, hydroelectricity & extra dimensional travel
Their core beliefs were only strengthened after the 2003 Resonance Cascade plummeted Earth into a dark abyss making their resolve to sabotage and desist any further research their primary objective.
Unlike their former counterparts they do not repudiate the use of technology when in conflict with a superior adversary such as Black Mesa or Aperture Science and believe that eliminating corporate entities is the only possible solution to prevent another global disaster.
Due to their phantom cell structure they devote themselves to God and thus do not have a leader.
